Dunnikier v Broomhall

Posted by James Sheehan on May 17, 2011 at 5:24 AM

On an overcast and cold Sunday afternoon at Dunnikier Park, both teams deserve credit for putting a game on. Broomhall won the toss and asked Dunnikier to bat first with Braid and Sheehan the opening batsmen. The scoreboard ticked over until the 8th over when Sheehan was bowled by Gudgin for 20 with the score on 39. Braid was soon to follow for 11 being bowled by Pryce. With Anjum and Raja Singh continuing to keep the scorers busy it was a shock when Anjum was caught by Mullen for 11 with the score on 62. Robbie Singh came in and hit a quick six runs before being clean bowled by Seath but this only hastened the arrival at the wicket of Mohammed who set about the bowlers with aplomb. His 76 not out being the highlight of the afternoon whilst young Elliot Cutter, another off the cricket conveyor belt that is the Cutter family, scored an impressive 7 runs on only his second appearance at this level and the first time he has batted in the league. Dunnikier finishing their 30 overs with an excellent score of 201 for 7. In reply, Broomhall were always going to struggle when Anjum, opening the bowling, took 2 for 2 off 4 overs and Broomhall limped to a score of 22 off the first 10 overs with Seath, the only batsmen who looked to be capable of dealing with a strong Dunnikier bowling performance. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals and Seath was finally out, caught by Anjum off the bowling of Alkanti for 44 after putting up strong resistance. Alkanti finishing with 3 wickets for 15 runs. Broomhall finished their innings on 107 for 9 giving Dunnikier the 4 points for the win and keeping their unbeaten start to the season.

Having just returned from holiday,I see we have won 2 out of 2 with 1 rained off.
This is a fantastic start to the season, and keep up the good work.
Our coaches must be doing a great job,and in return they need your support and commitment which i am sure you are giving 100%.

Best of luck in the next game at Dunfermline Knights.
